The Forster Hand Held Outside Neck Turner allows a reloader to ensure the bullet is released consistently from the case neck. During one part of the ignition the neck needs to expand releasing the bullet. If one side of the neck is thicker the thinner side will cause the bullet to release early which causes a slight misalignment of bullet-to-bore that has a major impact on accuracy.
With this turner case necks have uniform thickness thanks to the carbide cutter which is precision ground. In addition the micrometer knob makes adjustments to 0.0005 inches in either direction.
